Nicola Casamassima
[italiano] [inglese]

Nicola Casamassima with Laura Angel.
Born in 1956 in Apulia, he’s always lived in Bologna.
After a scientific-oriented type of high school, he became acquainted with artists of the comic-strip world and he took a liking to photography by attending the major musical events of the early 80’s.
Subsequently he turned from photographs of shows and exhibitions to news reports and photographs of sports events, working for important Italian newspapers.
In 1993 he had his first book published, Ma... Donne (Granata Press editors owned by Luigi Bernardi), in which the world of the Italian transsexuals is viewed through the lens of glamour.
Again in 1993 he founded the photographic agency Eikon Studio, together with two associates; he is still active in it producing photographs and reportages and publishing them on weekly magazines as well as on daily newspapers in Italy and abroad. In 2003, Woolrich entrusted him with the realization of the images for the fashion catalogues.
He has been present on the sets of various porn movies as the stage photographer and he has portrayed the “behind-the-scene” events as well with reportages that were published by the [nu] magazine many times.
In the year 2000 the series [nu] biblioteca curiosa was added a new book centered upon him, which bears the title Hard set and presents the takes he realized on the porn movies stages.
His latest work dates back to 2002: Sin! published by Pink’O Enterprise.

Hard set

When they arrive on stage they are breathless, and they all look pretty much the same: a schoolgirl look and an innocent smile.
It does not take much to them, though, to change their attire and they come out of the toilet room entirely different. Elastic band off and their hair becomes vaporous, high stiletto heels in place of the tennis shoes make their figure slender, garter belts and corsets replace their jeans and T-shirts.
Almost all the girls have a faithful boyfriend to whom they have to hide their activity. Their most frequently used pretext to justify longer periods of absence is that of having been engaged for hypothetical advertising or fashion services.
(Text taken from the book Hard set).
